Enquiry

Castle Pumps received an enquiry from an existing customer for which needed a special solution. They currently had a progressive cavity pump for pumping sludge installed on board a ship, which was in need of replacing. However, the manufacturer of the existing pump was no longer able to offer a direct replacement that was dimensionally interchangeable.

It was very important to the customer that the original pipework was not modified, and therefore a high viscosity sludge pump needed to be sourced that fitted into the existing installation. This was quite a challenging enquiry given that it is usually difficult to source progressive cavity pumps from alternative manufacturers that are both dimensionally the same and that can also perform the same duty requirements.

Solution

Castle Pumps has built a long standing relationship with a progressive cavity pump manufacturer who not only supplies high quality products, but is also open to adapting products to meet customer requirements.

A drawing of the existing pump was provided to the manufacturer and a special replacement interchangeable sludge pump was designed and subsequently ordered by the customer.

Our flexibility and experience meant that the customer was able to install a new replacement progressing cavity pump with no modifications having to be made on board ship. This therefore saved the customer valuable time and money.
