Corrosive Liquid Pumps
Corrosive Liquid Pumps for the Transfer & Dosing of Acids & Caustic Solutions
Corrosive fluids are typically categorised as hazardous liquids that damage and destroy other substances when they come into contact with them, typically acids and caustic solutions. When selecting a corrosive liquid pump, special consideration should be given to the materials of construction to ensure they can safely handle the acid without corrosion. Materials such as EPDM are ideal for the seals of acid transfer pumps as they are resistant to many corrosive fluids, and pump bodies often cast in Thermoplastics or super alloys such as Hastelloy. Due to the potential hazard that they pose to humans, another requirement of corrosive liquid transfer pumps is a limited chance of leakage of fluid. For that reason, seal-less pump designs such as AODD pumps and peristaltic pumps are popular for pumping acids and caustic solutions, as well as magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps.
