Multistage Pumps

Multistage Pumps & Multistage Centrifugal Pumps

Multistage centrifugal pumps, designed for clean fluid transfer, differ from single stage centrifugal pumps as they have two or more impellers, as opposed to the one impeller. There are different versions of multistage pump available with the impellers installed either in series on the same shaft for higher pressure applications, or in parallel on opposite shafts for installations where higher flow rates are required. Side channel pumps are also usually multistage in design to allow them to reach their pressure capabilities. Read our multistage centrifugal pump guide here.

View more information about Multistage Pumps

Multistage pumps are suitable for a number of water applications namely:

Boiler feed
Reverse osmosis
Heating/cooling conditioning
Water circulation
Irrigation
Fire fighting
Water supply boosting

As well as its higher pressure capabilities, a multistage centrifugal pump also benefits from a compact design thanks to having a smaller motor than a single stage pump, and can be installed both horizontally and vertically, with the inlet/outlet mounted in various positions. Multistage pumps are typically constructed to tight tolerances, meaning that particle handling is limited yet efficiency is greater.
