Peripheral Pumps

Peripheral pumps for low flow & high head applications

Peripheral pumps are a type of regenerative turbine pump that sit somewhere in the middle of centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps having similar construction and design to that of a side channel pump. The mechanism by which a peripheral pump works, means that it is ideal for low flow/high head applications where fuel, low viscosity oil or water is being transferred. These pumps are also able to handle liquids containing 20% entrained gases without losing efficiency.

The mechanism by which a peripheral pump works, means that it is ideal for low flow/high head applications where fuel, low viscosity oil or water is being transferred. Peripheral pumps are commonly utilised for the following applications:

Fuel/low viscosity oil transfer
Boiler feed
Deck washing
SW/FW transfer
Air conditioning/cleaning systems
Pressure boosting

Compared to an equivalent centrifugal pump, a peripheral pump requires a lower NPSHA, making it ideal for applications where a manometric suction lift of 7m is desired.
