Transfer pumps for MGO, HFO and LSFO
Vessel engines and boilers are powered by marine gas oil (MGO), heavy fuel oil (HFO) and more recently LSFO (low sulphur fuel oil). This marine fuel oil needs to be loaded onto a ship, transferred from tank to tank once on board and fed to the engine, which is why marine fuel pumps are required on board. A MGO pump, or marine gas oil pump in full, is usually a screw pump or gear pump thanks to their ability to handle lubricating fluids at high pressures. Emission regulations have seen vessels having to begin using low sulphur fuel; a cleaner but much thinner fluid. Vessels powered of LSFO, require slightly different models of marine fuel transfer pumps designed to specifically handle lower viscosity fuels than has been used traditionally - we have specific low sulphur screw pumps in our range.
