The Azcue VRX ATEX Close Coupled Centrifugal Pump is the horizontal version of the VRX vertical immersion pump. Supplied with a vortex impeller that is axially displaced from the suction, the pump creates a vacuum so that large solids almost up to the inlet/outlet size can pass through without interfering with the pump’s internals. This single stage centrifugal pump is therefore ideal for applications involving waste water, slurries and viscous, contaminated liquids.
The Azcue VRX horizontal centrifugal pump benefits from a back pull out design, meaning that the motor can be removed without disconnecting the pump from the pipework, which is time saving and less complex when maintenance is required. Whilst being closed coupled, this vortex impeller centrifugal pump has a lantern bracket, which means that whilst being space saving in design, there is still space between the pump and motor to prevent fluid falling into the motor should the seal wear. The VRX is also available in long coupled upon request.
These Azcue pumps have a separate shaft in the pump head and motor meaning that if one shaft goes, there is no need to replace it all; a benefit over other pumps on the market that have one continuous shaft from head to motor.
The material options for the Azcue VRX Single Stage Centrifugal Pump are as follows:
CAST IRON GG25 | BRONZE G-CusN5zNpB (Rg5) | AISI 316 (SS | |

Castle Pumps have scores of experience supplying pump solutions to the marine industry. An existing customer contacted us with a new enquiry for a solids handling sea water pump, which needed to be less costly and have better lead times than existing pumps. We offered and supplied a non-clogging centrifugal pump with a vortex impeller, which can handle solids as large as the discharge diameter. Minimal modifications were needed to their existing system and lead time and price were improved greatly.
The VRX Close Coupled Centrifugal Pump is manufactured by Azcue Pumps. As the official UK Agent of Azcue Pumps, Castle Pumps are a leading Bombas Azcue supplier in the UK with unrivalled technical knowledge. Azcue Pumps are a European manufacturer with over 100 years’ experience in type approved pumps for marine and offshore applications. Today their pumps are installed in more than 10,000 vessel builds. Whilst originally developed for the marine market, Azcue Pumps’ reliability in applications that depend upon the safety and operation of a ship saw them become a desirable product in industrial applications involving water, fuels and lubricants.
One of the key benefits of the VRX single stage centrifugal pump like the other models in the Azcue range, is that is benefits from interchangeable parts for reduced on board stockholding. We guarantee supply of spares for 15 years from model discontinuation for long term pump servicing, saving the user from having to prematurely replace a pump that just needs maintenance.
Azcue VRX centrifugal water pump are cast, machined and assembled at their foundry in Spain. Each pump is manufactured to order and designed to fit your process, resulting in greater efficiency and lower overall lifetime cost in terms of wear and energy consumption. Before leaving the factory, pumps are individually tested to confirm performance meets the requirements set out in your enquiry.
The Azcue VRX Close Coupled Centrifugal Pump has a vortex impeller that creates a whirlpool/vacuum, which keeps any solids away from the impeller as the fluid is pulled through the pump to prevent damage to the internals. It’s minimal risk of clogging and solid handling capabilities make this single stage centrifugal pump ideal for dirty fluids containing solids in applications such as:
