The Azcue VSS Vertical Immersion Pump is a higher flow, higher pressure model of cantilever pump designed for the transfer of clean water and oils, unlike the BTR and VRX models that can also handle solids.
Being a vertical line shaft pump, it means that this model's its motor is separated from the pump head, keeping it above liquid level. As the pump head is located within the fluid, vertically immersed pumps maintain a flooded suction. They are therefore ideal for applications where typically a self-priming pump is required, such as the emptying of tanks, reservoirs, sumps and wells require. This is why they are widely referred to as vertical sump pumps.
As this series of Azcue pump is contained within the tank it is also well suited to applications where space saving is required or where if the pump was located outside the suction distance would be too long. Vertical column pumps are also a good alternative to submersible pumps for the handling of such high temperature fluids as not only are their seals located outside the fluid protecting them from degrading, they are not affected by the NPSH issues that can occur when pumping a liquid so close to its boiling point.
Based on DIN 24255, the VSS vertical column pump is manufactured to the same dimensions as alternative models to enable the easy replacement and retrofitting into existing pipework. An additional benefit to aid easy installation is that the discharge pipe of this vertical cantilever pump is fitted level with the motor. Its bottom bearing lubrication enables dry running of the vertical shaft pump if the operator leaves it running once the container is empty, meaning that start-stop float switches are not required.

The VSS Vertical Immersion Pump is manufactured by Azcue Pumps. As the official UK Agent of Azcue Pumps, Castle Pumps are a leading Bombas Azcue supplier in the UK with unrivalled technical knowledge. Azcue Pumps are a European manufacturer with over 100 years’ experience in type approved pumps for marine and offshore applications. Today their pumps are installed in more than 10,000 vessel builds. Whilst originally developed for the marine market, Azcue Pumps’ reliability in applications that depend upon the safety and operation of a ship saw them become a desirable product in industrial applications involving water, fuels and lubricants.
One of the key benefits of the VSS vertically immersed centrifugal pump like the other models in the Azcue range, is that is benefits from interchangeable parts for reduced on board stockholding. We guarantee supply of spares for 15 years from model discontinuation for long term pump servicing., saving the user from having to prematurely replace a pump that just needs maintenance.
Azcue VSS cantilever pumps are cast, machined and assembled at their foundry in Spain. Each pump is manufactured to order and designed to fit your process, resulting in greater efficiency and lower overall lifetime cost in terms of wear and energy consumption. Before leaving the factory, pumps are individually tested to confirm performance meets the requirements set out in your enquiry.
Vertical immersion pumps are where the electric motor is located above the fluid and is connected via a long vertical shaft to the pump impellers which are immersed into the fluid. Therefore, the Azcue VSS Vertical Immersion Centrifugal Pump is ideal for low vicosity, clean fluid transfer where installation space is an issue or when the suction distance would be too long if the pump was outside of the fluid.
