Plunger pumps for high pressure pumping applications
Piston pumps and plunger pumps are reciprocating pumps from the positive displacement pump family. They are designed for high pressure pumping applications (up to 700 Bar) involving fluids up to viscosities of 500cp. The two main pumping components are the piston/plunger and the cylindrical chamber. The piston/plunger is moved back and forth inside the chamber by the motion of a crankshaft attached to either a hydraulic or electric drive.

Industries in which the piston pump and plunger pumps are commonly installed include:
Pressure cleaning
Vehicle cleaning
Water mist cooling and humidity control
Chemical injection and dosing
Odour control and dust suppression
Reverse osmosis
Drilling
Filtration
High pressure fuel transfer
Machine tool coolant
Plunger and piston pumps are excellent at maintaining peak efficiency while pumping fluids up to 500cp, however they are not designed for fluids with suspended solids as they can become trapped in the valves. Fluids containing solids or abrasive particles should be filtered before entering the pump.
