Enquiry

A composite decking manufacturer wanted a lubricant with a viscosity of between 4000-5000 mpas to be dripped onto wood fibres being conveyed along a screw conveyor at an adjustable flow rate of between 8-27 L/hour. A dosing pump was required which could accept this varying flow rate, dose an accurate amount of lubricant onto the wood fibres, yet deliver the same pressure at all flow rates.

Solution

The MN series of progressive cavity pump was an excellent choice of pump as being a positive displacement pump the flow rate could be adjusted between 8-27L an hour, whilst the pressure remained constant ensuring adequate lubricant was provided at differing times of demand. This progressive cavity pump transfers fluids with low pulsations and provides a highly accurate constant flow, ensuring accurate dosing over the period it is being used.

A motor variator was mounted on the unit enabling easy control of the speed of the dosing pump, with the pump running clockwise, as opposed to anti clockwise to enable fitting of the progressive cavity pump into a tight space as requested by our client.
