Thermal oil pumps, or hot oil pumps as they are otherwise known, are designed for the movement of heat-transfer oils under high temperature conditions. High temperature oil pumps such as these are primarily used to feed an oil burner or furnace, or as a hot oil circulation pump for circulating the fuel as part of a larger boiler feed or heating system.
Some of the most common thermal oils these heat transfer pumps handle include Marlotherm, Duratherm, Paratherm, Multitherm, Mobiltherm and Dowtherm. Given the nature of the application, thermal oil circulation pumps need to be able to handle high temperature, lubricating fluids and are often supplied with a double mechanical seal system to allow the cooling of the seals to deal with such temperatures.
