FAQs

To ensure you get the correct CAT pump spare parts, we need to identify the exact CAT pump model you have. Please advise us of the model number which can be found on the pump's name plate which is usually on the top of the pump body.

Castle Pumps can supply all CAT Pumps parts detailed on the spare parts list including seals, valves and crankcase oil worldwide. Delivery of most spare parts to the UK is available within a couple of days.

If your CAT pump model number label has been removed or is no longer legible, follow the instructions at the end of the article on this page: https://www.castlepumps.com/info-hub/cat-pump-maintenance-and-spare-parts

Crankcase oil should be changed after the first 50 hours of operation, and then every 3 months or every 500 hours, whichever is sooner. Maintenance intervals for CAT pump seals typically range between 1,500 and 8,000 hours depending upon the operating conditions. The valves are recommended to be replaced every other seal change, so every 3,000 to 16,000 hours.

It is recommended to use CAT Pumps' official custom-blend premium grade ISO 68 hydraulic oil, which has anti-wear stabilisers and anti-corrosion additives that prevent premature wear of the crankcase. Standard oils do not contain these same additives.

The main difference is that a piston pump's seal reciprocates within the piston in a cylinder, whereas a plunger pumps is stationary and the plunger slides through the seal. Whilst both designs have high pressure capabilities, plunger pumps offer even higher pressures. The other difference is that whilst a piston pump can draw their own fluid, plunger pumps rely on a flooded suction or pressure supply from a booster pump.

CAT pumps is a brand of triplex piston and plunger pumps, primarily for the high pressure pumping of water and water based fluids. These are not to be mistaken with fuel pumps onboard the CAT/Caterpillar plant equipment, which we are unable to help with.
