Low Shear Pumps
Low Shear Pumps for Shear Sensitive, Delicate Fluids
Shear sensitive fluids are those that can be damaged or altered when force is applied to them – usually be affecting its viscosity. Take cream for example, if you stir it for long enough it becomes a lot thicker, whereas butter becomes more fluid. When it is important that the fluid being handled retains its structure then a low shear pump is required. Some pumping technologies, including centrifugal pumps, are not suited to such shear sensitive fluids primarily due to the speed they run at, whereas positive displacement pumps such as peristaltic pumps, flexible impeller and progressive cavity pumps are. We offer a wide range of shear sensitive pumps including food grade options for hygienic applications.
